\ Pocket Branch flows out of a small canyon on the west side of Pigeon Mountain in the Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area. When this picture was made the falls was not visible because of low flow although the area had a fair amount of recent rain. However, the geology of the small canyon with its mineral stained rocks is interesting. The 800 ft. Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail boardwalk loop through the dense growth below the falls is worth the visit.

To reach the falls from LaFayette, Ga. take Hwy. 193 west 8 miles to Davis Cross roads. Turn left on Hog Jowl Rd. and go 2.7 miles to Pocket Rd. Turn left on Pocket Rd. and proceed 1.2 miles to the parking area. Enter the Wildflower Area through the handicap parking area. The trail the the falls is at the far end of the wildflower loop.
