Long Swamp Creek crosses under Grandview Rd. 4.7 miles from Jasper, Ga. To reach the falls from Jasper follow Hwy. 53 East and take an immediate left on Burnt Mt. Rd. (sign to Amicalola Falls). In about a half-mile turn right onto Cove Road. Follow Cove Rd. for approximately 5.5 miles and turn left on Grandview Rd. Cross the bridge over Long Swamp Creek in about 1.8 miles and park on the left. Walk back across the bridge and follow the path beside the creek 0.4 miles downstream to the falls. At the falls it is necessary to scramble down a rock ledge to the creek and can be dangerous, especially during damp weather. The Creek has clear running water even during periods of heavy rain and drops approximately 60 feet from the road to the falls. The trail to the falls is on private property and permission should be obtained from the owners before making the trip. |
